Fulfillmentism

Here, you may occasionally see the term Fulfillmentism.

It may seem that I use the terms interchangeably, and I sometimes do, but technically Fulfillment Theory is the name I’ve given to this project as a whole, whereas Fulfillmentism is the name of the structured philosophy at its core. Fulfillmentism is an aspect of Fulfillment Theory.

Fulfillmentism definition: a life philosophy with the goal of increasing flourishing and one’s sense of fulfillment.

Fulfillmentism is a lazy mash-up of fulfillment and ism. I coined the term mostly as a defensive measure in the case that “Fulfillment Theory” is semantically criticized for sounding merely theoretical or incomplete, rather than tangible or useful. Fulfillmentism is more-or-less a unified way of saying Fulfillment Theory:

  • Fulfillment: [Fulfillment Theory Definition] the chief aim of all human desire and action.
  • Ism: [Dictionary.com definition]: a distinctive doctrine, theory, system, or practice. [Merriam-Webster.com definition]: a distinctive doctrine, cause, or theory.

As a follower of this philosophy, I suppose I’m technically a Fulfillmentist, though I use this term even less than Fulfillmentism. Generally, I refer to this project (and often even the core philosophy itself) simply as Fulfillment Theory. I hope that clarifies any questions someone might have on this.
